Description
Inovar Autismo is a Portuguese NGO that promotes the rights and full inclusion of autistic people through active, innovative projects.
Founded in 2016, Inovar Autismo defends and promotes the human rights and full inclusion of autistic people and neurodivergent individuals in Portugal. We believe society, not neurodivergent people, must adapt to include everyone. Therefore, we work on two fronts: empowering neurodivergent people through training and resources in education, employment, and advocacy, as well as training and equipping the schools, employers, and other entities they engage with, so that environments become truly accessible. We continuously develop new project ideas and welcome new collaborative partnerships.
Competence and Expertise Offered
We bring hands-on expertise from running a variety of inclusion projects, including school-based inclusion methodologies, self-advocacy and human-rights training for autistic youth, inclusion and accessibility in employment, and independent living support. We have worked with several partner organizations on a national and international level, so we offer expertise in cross-sector project design, multi-stakeholder coordination, and adapting methodologies to different institutional contexts.
Expertise sought
As we are always developing new projects, we welcome cooperation with organisations experienced in EU funding and project management, organizations fighting for the rights of people with disabilities, employment and business partners, cultural and sports institutions open to inclusive practices, and research/academic partners. We are especially interested in exchanging good practices and co-developing new international initiatives on inclusion.
