Description
Sol sem Fronteiras is a Portuguese development NGO founded in 1993. It promotes quality education and global citizenship in Portugal and abroad.
We work in two main areas: development cooperation and development education for global citizenship. Education is the baseline of all our work – teacher training (we are a DGERT-certified training body), non-formal education with young people, and school projects on human rights, gender and diversity.
Project idea – ENTRELAÇOS: preventing gender-based violence in adolescent relationships in a rural coastal territory (Peniche), through teacher training and peer education, with schools and a public teacher training centre. We seek a Norwegian partner to co-develop the methodology.
Competence and Expertise Offered
We offer 30 years of practice in citizenship education and certified training capacity (DGERT), including accredited teacher training. We bring access to school networks and a public teacher training centre, expertise in designing non-formal and peer-education methodologies, and in adapting them to rural and culturally diverse contexts. We also provide knowledge of the Portuguese citizenship education framework, local facilitation, project management and evaluation.
Expertise sought
We seek a Norwegian partner experienced in preventing gender-based violence among adolescents and in teaching human rights in culturally diverse classrooms. We would like it to co-author our pedagogical framework, share methods for facilitating difficult conversations on gender norms, and contribute content to the accredited in-service training for teachers. The bilateral component is an exchange between professionals, so we value a partner willing to learn with our team and school network.
