Description
LPPS is a Portuguese IPSS founded in 1924, working in public health, social inclusion, education, community development and social intervention.
The Liga Portuguesa de Profilaxia Social is a private, non-profit institution of social solidarity, with over a century of history, based in Porto’s historic city centre. Deeply rooted in the city’s history, particularly in the fields of public health and human rights, the organisation has evolved over time, adapting to the needs identified by and within the community.
Currently, it aims to strengthen its participatory practices through culturally and artistically based projects that promote reflection and critical awareness, occupying public space in an intercultural and intergenerational way
Competence and Expertise Offered
A team committed to the principles and values that uphold human rights, an interdisciplinary team that works together horizontally, not only for the community but with the community. We are always willing to work in networks and bring together resources from various institutions rather than working in isolation. We also offer everyone a historic space with its doors open on one of Porto’s oldest streets.
Expertise sought
Our goal is to collaborate with an institution that has more experience in what we lack, in the broader dissemination of our work and our history, so that it is possible to create a larger community.
An institution that identifies with our trajectory and especially with our principles and objectives, that is willing to share knowledge and best practices so that we can reflect together and build together.
